Miami to Maine
Stay-at-Home Mother of Two Paddling 2,000 Miles
to Help Protect Our Coasts & Ocean
Battery Park, NY – Margo Pellegrino, a 40-year-old stay-at-home mother of two who is on a 2,000 mile solo paddle from Miami to Maine will stop in New York City on June 25th at 6:00PM Esplanade just south of the North Cove Marina. Members and supporters of the Surfrider Foundation, NYC Chapter and paddling enthusiasts will be on hand to welcome her to the Big Apple.
Pellegrino is paddling solo from Miami, Florida to Camden, Maine (www.miami2maine.com) to raise awareness about the problems facing our oceans. These threats include: pollution, development, habitat destruction, aquaculture, and beach access. The focus of this stop will be water quality and the Beach Protection Act sponsored by local Congressman Frank Pallone Jr.
Margo hopes to inspire a growing grassroots movement of paddlers, surfers and other ocean enthusiasts to take a more active role in the stewardship of our oceans. Margo is being supported by a network of volunteers and ocean groups including the Surfrider Foundation and the National Environmental Trust.
