NY1 - Paddlers Take to the Hudson River
Kayaking enthusiasts are reminding New Yorkers that now is the prime time to go gliding on the Hudson River. Free lessons from experienced volunteers are offered at Piers 40, 66, 84, and 96. “We can race them. We can surf in them. We can take ocean waves with them,” said Keith Tsang of New York Outrigger. “It’s a great thing to do on the Hudson River.”
“We’ve got boathouses that do kayaking, canoeing, one even does boat building,” explained Hudson River Park Trust President Connie Fishman. “There’s a Hawaiian outrigger group. There are community sailing lessons. So really we have anything you can think of to do in the water, including swim.”

We were grateful to have another lovely performance of ancient Kahiko Hula and modern Auana by Halau Hula ‘O Na Mele ‘Aina ‘O Hawai’i and everyone in the large crowd was treated to live Hawaiian music from the Tiny Bubbles Band.
